I’m Seeing God’s Heart

I am a firm believer that one choice can change your life. I’ve seen this be true in my life, in my family & friends lives, and in the lives of strangers. If you break it down to the amount of choices we make on a daily basis, that realization can sometimes become overwhelming. But it’s sort of cool too, that your life is still being shaped moment by moment.

Most choices don’t have such evidential change, though, at least not immediately, but there are a few that can rock, or even shatter, your world.

I am blessed to have found myself in a position to see, on a regular basis, how a person’s choice to follow a push toward Missions is changing their lives! God’s heart and will for people’s lives is being chosen by the participants I interact with every single day and it is so beautiful!

At Adventures in Missions, I am working in the Short Term Missions department in a role that looks a lot like customer service on most days. However, instead of constant complaints about how someone’s leather bag arrived with a stain on it, I get to talk to participants about what God has placed on their hearts! It’s been so cool because most of them have never gone on a Missions trip before , domestic or international, and the first conversation I get to have with them is usually filled with excitement, or fear, and lots of questions about how to prepare.

I remember feeling the exact same way before I went to Haiti in 2011. I had  no idea what I was getting into, but I was so excited to see that God was inviting me into that space. That 10 day trip to Haiti, my first international Missions trip, completely changed the course of my life!  This trip started a fire in my heart for being the hands and feet of God anywhere I am.  It showed me that missions trips aren’t about humanitarian work, but about loving on humanity. The Lord used that trip to Haiti to open my eyes to the way He sees his people.

And that’s the same reaction I am getting to see in the participants of the mission trips I am mobilizing for Adventures! On our follow up emails and calls, there is no more fear, no more uncertainty. Those things have been replaced with new eyes for the world and humanity! Their hearts are bursting with love for the people they got to serve and their desires to follow God into wherever He calls next is so evident. No matter if the trip was to Thailand or to Appalachia, lives are changing. Not just the lives of the people who the team served, but the lives of the participants.

Y’all, it’s so cool to be a part of God changing lives! Especially through the exact same organization that He used to change mine in so many ways. I’m so thankful to have you come alongside me as I help to usher in this new generation of missionaries. It wouldn’t be possible without you! Thanks for being part of it with me 🙂

  1. Exciting to see you’re working with AIM again. So are you in GA? You said something about
“remotely” so I didn’t know where/what you were up to these days. Hope you’re doing well.
